Sealing strips are mainly used to open the fan and press the gap between the glass and the frame, which is the key to ensuring the sealing of doors and windows. EPDM rubber strip has superior oxidation resistance, ozone resistance, aging resistance and corrosion resistance; Excellent low-temperature performance, at -50 ° C; Under C conditions, the softness is still extremely strong, and its sealing performance will not be reduced due to low temperature; Excellent UV resistance, good elasticity, and electrical insulation are all irreplaceable by other PVC materials.
Generally, as long as the outer, inner, and middle seals are well done, it is sufficient to have a good sealing effect. The sealing ratio is about quality, not quantity.
There are two types of connection positions for glass and window sashes: pressure tape and glue application. The construction technology of adhesive tape is low, which is more neat and beautiful than gluing. It has a higher safety factor for workers and is more convenient for replacing glass in the future. The outer adhesive tape of the glass is already pressed on the window frame or sash before leaving the factory, and drainage holes have been pre opened, so there is no need to worry about water leakage caused by untreated outer waterproofing of the glass.
The press in rubber strip can be seamlessly connected at the corners of the window without violent cutting, thereby improving the overall sealing of the doors and windows. The quality of the press in rubber strip is generally better than that of the penetration type, and the groove of the penetration type rubber strip is longer and shallower than that of the press in type rubber strip.
The rubber strip has the problem of thermal expansion and contraction, and a shrinkage allowance of 2-3 centimeters should be reserved in advance to prevent the rubber strip from retracting.
How to distinguish the quality of sealing strips:
◆ Smell - Use your nose to smell for any unusual odor. Normal EPDM rubber has a slight alcohol odor, which is very small and almost imperceptible. Poor quality EPDM sealing strips not only use recycled rubber, but also excessively add fillers and low molecular weight aromatic olefin oil or complex refinery residue heavy oil as plasticizer substitutes in the formula. This product has a strong odor when it first leaves the factory. Over time, the component evaporates quickly, causing the rubber strip to harden and become brittle, causing it to shrink, loosen, and fall off, making it prone to cracking and aging, and losing its sealing function.
◆ Look - High quality rubber strips have a smooth surface, a matte finish, no obvious impurities or other defects, and uniform color. In summer, the contact surface between the sealing strip and the profile may become yellow due to the migration of aromatic or heavy oil, resulting in stains, discoloration, yellowing, and oil leakage. And high-quality EPDM rubber strips will not have this situation.
◆ Touch - High quality rubber strips have a smooth appearance, no jagged marks, and no cracks on the surface. They are delicate and soft to the touch, without any deformation or undulations. Poor quality products may have varying degrees of roughness and even coexist with cracks when touched.
◆ Pull the good rubber strip to adapt to stretching without breaking, and it can quickly recover after bending and releasing. The high filling soft PVC sealing strip has poor strength and can crack or break easily when bent or pulled.
◆ Weighing refers to the process of measuring the weight. For sealing strips of the same volume, high-quality ones should be lighter, otherwise they should be heavier. High quality ternary rubber strips are made of imported raw rubber with light weight and high anti-aging degree, while products made of recycled rubber have a relatively large proportion and poor anti-aging performance.
◆ Test - On site inspection, embed the rubber strip between the profile and the glass, and check the rationality of the cross-sectional shape and the suitability of the size of the rubber strip. It takes less effort to press in the rubber strip, while the greater the force to pull out the glass, the better.
How to check product sealing:
1. The overlap amount of the adhesive strip in the door and window structure, that is, the contact area between the adhesive strip and the frame leaf when the door and window are locked.
2. Check the selection of adhesive strips for weak or specific areas of doors and windows, such as the corners and hinges of window frames and sashes. A small opening should be cut and bent at the hinge position, and the cut end should be fixed with adhesive. Use corner adhesive strips of the same size, vulcanized integrated adhesive strips, and hidden hinges to improve the overall sealing of doors and windows.
3. Turn on and off the window sash with your hands and feel whether there is a squeezing and elasticity from the rubber strip, as well as the elasticity and deformation when opening and closing. The greater the squeezing sensation, the better.
4. Ask about the brand and adhesive content of the rubber strip. The adhesive content determines the quality of the rubber strip. The higher the adhesive content, the faster it will return to its original shape after pressing and stretching, and the smaller the deformation change.
