Smell - Use your nose to smell for any unusual odor. Normal EPDM material has a slight mellow smell, which is very small and almost imperceptible. Poor quality EPDM sealing strips not only use waste materials of varying quality, but also excessively add fillers and recycled rubber to the formula. This product has a strong odor when it first leaves the factory, and over time, the ingredient evaporates quickly, causing the sealing strip to harden and become brittle, causing the rubber strip to shrink, loosen, and fall off, making it prone to cracking and aging, and losing its seal.
Look - High quality rubber strips have a smooth surface, a matte finish, no obvious impurities or other defects, and uniform color. In summer, poor quality sealing strips on the contact surface between sealing strips and profiles can cause the profiles to turn yellow due to component migration, resulting in stains, discoloration, yellowing, and oil leakage. And high-quality EPDM rubber strips will not have this situation..
Touch - High quality rubber strips have a smooth appearance, no jagged marks, no cracks on the surface, delicate and soft hand feel, no distortion or deformation, and good elasticity. However, inferior products may have varying degrees of roughness and even cracks, and lack elasticity when touched.
Pull - The rubber strip should be moderately stretched without breaking, and it can quickly recover after being bent and released. Poor quality EPDM sealing strips have poor strength and can crack and break easily when folded or pulled.
Weighing - that is, measuring the weight. For sealing strips of the same volume, high-quality ones have lower density, while the opposite requires higher density. High quality EPDM rubber strips are made of imported raw rubber with light weight and high anti-aging degree, while products made of recycled rubber have relatively large weight and poor anti-aging performance.
Test - On site inspection, embed the rubber strip between the profile and the glass, and check the rationality of the cross-sectional shape and the suitability of the size of the rubber strip. It takes less effort to press in the rubber strip, while the greater the force to pull out the glass, the better.
